How to Choose the Right Cabinet Hardware

There are many important decisions involved in the process of making a house a home and the small details are sometimes the most significant part. Hardware is a detail that can easily be forgotten, however choosing the correct cabinet knob or pull bar can add visual interest and character to a space, elevating the room in an effortless way. Investing in quality hardware is a significant part of designing a home, the pieces are adorned to cabinets, drawers and units that are used everyday. Read our guide below to influence your choice of cabinet furniture for your space.

TYPES OF CABINET HARDWARE

Firstly, you should decide whether you want to use a combination of cabinet knobs and pull bars, or keep it consistent by using one design. It’s important to choose a functional style that is easy to use and matches your lifestyle, while also choosing a design based on the style and colourway that matches your interior. We recommend using a knob for cabinet doors, and a pull handle for cabinet drawers.

CABINET KNOBS

Cabinet knobs are usually smaller in size than cabinet handles. They provide understated luxury and fine detail. Usually placed in corners of cabinet doors and the centre of drawers to offer ease and accessibility. The hand grips are small in size, making them ideal for a clean, contemporary space.

PULL HANDLES

Pull handles are usually bigger in size than cabinets and range from 140mm to 280mm. They create a striking statement, and are easier to grip particularly our designs that are crafted with knurled and fluted detail. They can be installed vertically or horizontally across the top of a cabinet door or drawer.

CUP HANDLES

Cup handles are a popular alternative to the standard straight pull bar. Displaying a curvaceous semi circle shape, the cup handles are an elegant addition to drawers and units. Cup pulls are usually installed to the top third of the cabinet door or on the top rail and centred vertically.

T-BAR HANDLES

The versatile T-bar handles can be placed horizontally or vertically on cabinet doors and drawers in your kitchen. Extremely easy to use and grip, T-bars are significant across luxury properties and family homes.

SELECTING A STYLE

Once you’ve chosen your desired hardware type, you should consider what style suits your interior the best. Our collection consists of modern and traditional designs that offer different aesthetics to your home.

MODERN

Our modern hardware includes cabinet knobs and pull handles designed with clean, sleek lines for a minimalist appeal. Defined by our knurled and fluted detail which is inspired by high-end motoring and Greek architecture. Available in our signature finishes of matte black, brushed gold and brushed stainless.

TRADITIONAL

Our traditional designs display fine intricate detail that adds character and charm to your home. The cabinet hardware embraces geometric, hammered and scalloped detail inspired by the 1920s Art Deco era. Available in polished nickel, brushed gold, distressed steel and aged bronze finishes which are synonymous with opulent traditional interiors.

FINISHES

Next, you’ll want to consider which finish suits your interior style. You should think about which colours match or contrast with your cabinets, appliances and hinges. Depending on your aesthetic, you may want your hardware furniture to stand out and make a statement. In this case we suggest using an opulent finish such as brushed gold, or contrasting colours with your cabinet. If you’re looking to create a minimalist appeal, use subtle designs and a versatile finish such as matte black. Our brushed gold and aged bronze hardware works beautifully in warm and neutral colour palettes, whereas polished nickel and brushed stainless complement cold colourways.
