Mindful Luxury

In the current climate, many people are looking for ways to achieve a more efficient lifestyle for the longer-term.

Whether you’re motivated by sustainability, savings, or both, one of the most impactful changes you can make is to reduce your use of water, energy, and ‘fast’ fashion or furniture.

Fortunately, that doesn’t mean that you need to compromise on comfort, functionality or aesthetic, as modern design is more focused on efficiency than ever before, enabling you to cut consumption and costs simply by making mindful purchases.

Water Efficiency

On average, each person in the UK uses over 140 litres each and every day, however by updating your home with carefully designed fixtures and fittings, you can significantly reduce that figure while also elevating the luxury look and feel of your property. For example, by adding air to the flow of water, tap aerators can decrease water usage by as much as 9 litres per minute according to the European University Institute. They also provide an improved user experience by creating a gentle, splash-free water flow, and as a result, premium Neoperl aerators are featured throughout our brassware collection.  In addition, our range features infrared sensor taps that save water by only functioning when movement is detected.

Modern rimless toilets also outperform traditional models by saving water at the point of use. Engineered with a direct flush technique that delivers increased power and more effective cleaning, rimless toilets can save as much as 25% of water per flush, and as toilets usually account for around 30% of household water use, over time this is another size-able reduction.

Heat Saving

Along with proper insulation, you can scale back gas and electricity consumption across your home by investing in energy-efficient fixtures, fittings and appliances, such as LED lighting and eco-friendly washing machines. Instant hot water taps such as our Filtrata 4 in 1 Boiling Water Kitchen Tap also use significantly less energy than traditional kettles on a day-to-day basis, and they often save water too as it’s estimated that the majority of people overfill their kettle each time they use it.

The materials used to create products can also impact efficiency; enameled cast iron and stone resin – which both feature throughout our freestanding bath collections – are effective heat conductors, retaining warmth for longer and removing the need for frequent top ups of hot water.

Such heat saving measures not only reduce carbon footprints and household bills, studies show they can also make homes more attractive to potential buyers, and in some cases, increase their value.

Lasting Purchases

Investing in products that will stand the test of time is also the smarter, more sustainable choice, particularly when it comes to furniture and homeware, which is why we exclusively produce collections using lasting, high-quality materials. By purchasing items with lifetime guarantees and timeless designs, such as our stone freestanding baths and basins, you remove the need to regularly replace worn and torn fixtures, which across the longer term offers both economical and environmental benefits.

Even making the smallest of changes – such as switching from plastic to glass bottles – can make a difference, and ultimately, by taking a considered approach to furnishing your home, you can enjoy a more carefully curated aesthetic that will reflect your individual taste for decades to come.
