Could you provide some background of your interior design experience?
I studied Furniture Design, graduating with First-Class Honours before starting my career in London. I had the opportunity to work at some of the city’s most respected design studios, where I specialised in high-end residential interiors. Over the past ten years, I’ve built a strong foundation in interior architecture, bespoke joinery, and spatial planning - with a particular focus on kitchen and bathroom design.
My design approach blends elegance with functionality, resulting in layered, sophisticated spaces that are both timeless and practical. I pay close attention to texture, form, and colour, and craftsmanship is at the heart of everything I do. Whether I’m working on a contemporary home or a period property, each design feels carefully considered and effortlessly liveable. At the core of my practice is a collaborative, client-led process. I take the time to truly understand how my clients live, so I can shape spaces that support and enhance their everyday lives.

What would you say is your design philosophy? How does it shape the spaces you create?
Designing for the future, inspired by the past. Our philosophy is rooted in creating spaces that feel deeply personal - ones that reflect the unique stories, tastes and personalities of the people who live in them. The vision behind the studio is simple: to design spaces that evoke emotion, tell a story, and ultimately leave our clients smiling. Every detail matters, and we approach each project with sensitivity, creativity and a strong sense of purpose.
When starting a new project, what are the first steps you take to understand the client’s vision and requirements?
I like to start the design process by digging into how my clients live, what inspires them, and how they want the space to feel - not just how it should look. From there, I build a concept that captures their lifestyle and aspirations, but also pushes them gently towards something fresh and considered.
What strategies do you use to make smaller spaces feel more open and functional through layout?
Smaller spaces need to work harder, so every detail counts. I focus on flow, scale, and natural light. Built-in joinery, multifunctional furniture and clever zoning, with lighting and rugs, can completely transform how a space feels.
How do you select materials, colours, and textures? Do your choices vary significantly between residential and commercial projects?
Once I've built a strong design brief and relationship with the client, I always start with the feeling we want to evoke in a space and the palette will go through design development from there.
In residential projects, I might lean more into softness and intimacy, whereas commercial spaces often call for durability and a slightly bolder edge. But the core principles - honesty in materials and a cohesive palette, are consistent throughout.

"It’s a brand we trust to deliver both style and substance, which makes specifying their products a no-brainer."

Do you incorporate sustainability into your designs?
Sustainability is integral to our approach at Amy Stoddart Studio. We prioritise selecting natural, durable materials, collaborating with local artisans, and steering clear of fleeting trends to ensure our designs are both timeless and environmentally responsible. Beyond our design practices, we're proud members of 1% for the Planet, committing 1% of our profits annually to environmental charities focused on preserving our planet. This commitment reflects our belief that thoughtful design and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to enter the interior design field today?
There’s so much noise out there, but the best designers develop their own point of view by observing, making mistakes, and refining over time. Stay curious, trust your instincts and don’t rush the process.
Do you have any "design rules" that you apply in your own space that you might not use in client projects?
I’m actually a real stickler for 'design rules' and I always apply them in my own home. I wouldn’t ever suggest something to a client that I don’t genuinely live by or believe in myself. Whether it’s getting the proportions right, or using natural materials, the principles I apply are consistent across the board. Good design is good design - no matter whose space it is.
Do you ever feel the pressure to keep your home “perfect” since you’re an interior designer, or do you embrace a more relaxed approach?
If I’m honest, I probably lean more towards keeping everything just so - my fiancé jokes that our place feels like a showroom. I naturally gravitate towards creating order and balance in my surroundings, and I find a calm, well-curated space really grounding.
Would you recommend Lusso to other designers/developers?
Absolutely - they’re always a go-to for us. Their use of marble is particularly stunning, and there’s a real sense of refinement across the range. It’s a brand we trust to deliver both style and substance, which makes specifying their products a no-brainer.
