AFTERCARE OF YOUR STONE BATHS

Following the correct aftercare for your polished or matte stone bath is essential to prolong its beauty. Depending on the finish of your bath will depend on the methods of cleaning it requires. Take a look at our guide for advice on how to clean your stone bath.

HOW TO CLEAN AND CARE FOR YOUR POLISHED STONE PRODUCTS

Polished materials should be cleaned regularly to preserve a flawless appearance. Cleaning immediately after use will maintain longevity and durability along with its immaculate glow. The quick and easy process simply consists of rinsing with warm, soapy water and drying with a soft cloth. If stubborn stains appear on your polished bath, it can be more difficult to clean - a stone polishing kit is the best solution for light scratches. However, deep scratches and chips that appear difficult to treat require a professional stonemason who can repair the polished product back to its original state. Soap scum is a common aberration that often appears after many bathings. This can easily be minimised with a non-acidic soap scum remover that is safe to use and will not dull the surface of the polished stone.

DO'S and DON'TS

 Clean immediately after use.
Clean any damage immediately.
Clean with warm soapy water.
Invest in a polishing kit to clean scratches and stains.
Do not use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners.
Do not clean with concentrated bleach.
Do not clean with shampoo.

HOW TO CLEAN AND CARE FOR MATTE STONE

Similar to polished stone, matte stone products should be cleaned immediately after use with warm, soapy water, or our Stone Cleaning Solution, and dried with a soft cloth. Smooth matte stone involves a deep, thorough clean at least once a month, and we advise polishing with a wet and dry sandpaper pad to ensure all harsh stains are removed. An alternative to this is a cream cleaner that will repair the surface back to its immaculate finish.

✔ Clean immediately after use.
✔ Sand and polish with a wet and dry sandpaper pad.
✔ Clean at least once a month.
✔ Clean with composite stone cleaning solutions only.

Do not clean with shampoo.

HOW TO REPAIR STONE BATHS

POLISHED FINISH

Light surface scratches are possible to remove using a stone polishing kit which can be purchased from most major DIY stores. For deep scratches and chips, we recommend that you use a professional stone mason.

MATTE FINISH

Surface scratches and chips can be removed by using various grades of sandpaper, depending on the depth of the scratch or chip. Once the scratch or chip has gone, you will need to smoothen it off using the fine grade sandpaper that was supplied with your product.
