Bathroom Design Inspiration Our Projects

Lusso x Maison Amarande

Interior design studio, Maison Amarande work on outstanding projects across the world from Hong Kong and Lisbon to Paris and Stockholm. One of many Maison Amarande’s beautiful projects, The Hidden Retreat, situated in Lisbon, Portugal is proudly supplied by Lusso. The 19th century house has had a stunning transformation, with a contemporary appeal articulated around a minimal stone and wooden central stairs.

Maison Amarande’s approach to interior design focuses on balance, incorporating muted, soft tones enhanced by the natural Portuguese sunlight to create peaceful settings of serenity as demonstrated in the Hidden Retreats bathrooms. Natural woody notes and minimal decor is showcased throughout this property consisting of two bathrooms. The breathtaking en-suite is defined by our Picasso Freestanding Bath which is beautifully complemented by our Rose Gold Floorstanding Tap. This rich colour fits in perfectly with the neutral tones creating a warm ambience. In the second bathroom, our matte black brassware and accessories are enhanced by the minimal palette. Matte black is a distinctive shade that instantly adds a dramatic element to simplistic interiors.

Can you give us some background on the Hidden Retreat and your initial inspirations for its interior design?

The client brief was to design an elegant and comfortable family house in a contemporary style with a warm and natural feel. The house has been entirely furnished with new pieces sourced from exclusive design companies and completed with a few pieces of commissioned artwork. It was very exciting to start working from a blank page. The house is ideally located in the city centre of Lisbon with a nice view of the aqueduct and the romantic Amoreiras garden with a charming kiosk and a lovely chapel. This quiet and historical environment was a source of inspiration to design the project.

When designing the bathrooms, what was your main aim and where did you source inspiration?

For me a bathroom should be relaxing and peaceful, this is why I always try to find a right balance between clean lines and soft tones, in this case, all bathrooms are enhanced by a great flow of natural light.

Could you tell us the story behind Maison Amarande and how it began?

After many years living abroad in Hong Kong and Sweden, in 2017, during a visit in Lisbon we felt an energy in the air and immediately decided to be part of it. In addition to finding it beautiful and dynamic, we decided it was the perfect setting to start a new studio. Why? Because Lisbon is full of magnificent buildings to refurbish.
