Get the Scandi Look – a Q&A with Scandi-enthusiast Sue Caldwell

Scandi interiors have risen in popularity in recent years, becoming the go-to choice for tranquil, serene spaces that are heavily influenced by the Scandinavian way of life. The beauty of Scandi themed homes is that they’re authentic, natural and timeless, one of the reasons why Lusso client Sue opted for this beautiful trend throughout her Shropshire home.

Located in the countryside, Sue – aka @talltrees.and.scandidreams – works Scandinavian elements throughout her full home, incorporating woody notes, natural elements and clean, minimal aesthetics running from room to room, even on the exterior of the home which displays burnt larch cladding – a charred effect that’s prominent within Scandi architecture.

We were eager to catch up with Sue to find out all about her Scandi inspirations and how she’s included Lusso in this beautiful interior.

Your home is the epitome of beautiful Scandi style. Tell us more about your design aesthetic and what inspired you?

I have always had a love of Scandi design and aesthetics, so when it came to building our home, it was the natural way to go in terms of design and style. I think I have a very similar ethos to the Scandi way of living. I like to think of it in three main points; plain, simple and useful, and by keeping this in mind I have been able to create a home that feels like my version of Scandi.

What defines your home as Scandinavian and what are your favourite elements of this interior theme?

Our home’s exterior is Scandinavian inspired and by using Shou Sugi Ban (burnt larch) as cladding, is very much in the style of Scandi homes. It felt natural to continue this theme through to the interiors. With a natural palette of colour and texture, we have created a home which evokes a feeling of calm and contentment.

You have featured Lusso products in several bathrooms, tell us about these different rooms and the aesthetics.

Lusso have such a wonderful range of products using natural materials like stone and marble which were a perfect fit for our bathroom designs. We chose the Picasso range and included the basin and bath in our ensuite, together with the beautiful white wall hung double vanity draw. These made the perfect partner with the brushed brass fittings and the warm woods of the panelling, we wanted a calm natural spa-like vibe, somewhere to escape the stresses of the day, and the whole scheme works beautifully together. This is one of my favourite rooms in the house and I love nothing better in an evening than to run a bath, lie back, and relax.

How did you find the service dealing with Lusso?

Ordering from Lusso was easy and straightforward using the website, with good communication and regular updates on my order. It was important to me that we used quality products and fittings in our home and we are very happy that we were able to use Lusso products.

Products used in Sue’s home – Picasso Freestanding Stone Bath, Picasso Stone Basin, Luxe Wall Mounted Basin Mixer Tap, Floorstanding Bath Tap, Edge Wall Hung Drawer Unit, Charcoal Oasis Basin.
