Bathroom Design Inspiration Help & Advice

Downstairs Toilet Trends 2019

Your downstairs toilet, or cloakroom, is probably one of the most high-traffic areas in the home and one place where you can really show off your individual style. Although typically a small space, it’s perfect for getting experimental with those paint shades and wallpaper samples you’ve been itching to try out!

Whether you prefer it to stick with the overall decor flow of your home, or you want to create a hidden gem for guests to explore when they visit, we’ve looked at some of the top downstairs toilet trends for 2019!

Statement Wallpaper

If there was ever a room in the house that was made for statement wallpaper, it’s the cloakroom. Whether you have a small box shape or an ‘under-the-stairs’ alcove room, you can add instant style with one bold feature wall. We recommend sticking to a neutral paint or tile palette for the other walls and letting the wallpaper take centre stage. Tropical, safari and botanical style wallpapers are still very much on-trend at the moment and the combination of colours in these styles will complement a wide range of bathroom fixtures and fittings.

We love the combination of this funky jungle-inspired wallpaper and our brushed gold taps and basin waste.

Stand Out Accessories

Sometimes, simply changing up the accessories in your bathroom can make all the difference. If you’re looking for a quick cloakroom update, why not consider changing your basin taps? Switching to an on-trend style such as rose gold, matte black, brushed gold or even gunmetal can give your space a much-needed transformation. Complement the new fixtures with matching decor pieces such as mirrors, toilet roll holders and ornaments in the same shade and finish the room with statement lighting. With just a few tweaks, you can make even the smallest of spaces look completely different

How can you resist the drama of this beautifully decadent downstairs toilet makeover? The gold taps look stunning against the matching mirror, can we also talk about that amazing Farrow and Ball paint job?

Statement Floors

If you have a compact cloakroom and don’t fancy adding anything bold to the walls, why not turn your attention to the floors? Statement flooring is a great way to add some personality to your space and with plenty of options available, it’s easy to find a pattern or print to suit your home. We love seeing statement tiles in a Lusso bathroom, especially bold monochrome designs. Not only will it give your bathroom a contemporary feel, but it will also leave your guests with those hotel-luxe vibes. If you are going bold with your flooring, we recommend keeping your wall decor simple. Monochrome is an all-round great choice for a small space but you can also introduce on-trend shades such as dusky pink, sage green and other pastel shades to a compact cloakroom.

It may not be a downstairs toilet, but just look how amazing these monochrome tiles look against the sleek white of the Lusso stone bath and matte-black accessories.

Smart Bathroom Furniture

In order to create the illusion of space in a small cloakroom, you need to get creative with your furniture choices. A floating, or wall-hung vanity unit or basin shelf is a great way to maximise space and also make the most of the space around it. Our compact Ethos stone resin vanity unit is a great choice for a smaller bathroom, with a substantial basin and signature white stone resin. The under basin drawer is perfect for storing your essentials and as we supply with no tap hole, you can choose to install either wall-mounted or standard basin taps in your chosen style.

By choosing smart furniture and storage solutions for your cloakroom, you can easily keep all of your bathroom products stored neatly away, reducing clutter and keeping the focus on your amazing decor choices.

We love how this Lusso basin and vanity unit has been styled with the modern matte black taps and beautiful foliage.
