Botanical Bathroom Ideas

One of our favourite trends of the moment is botanicals. Not only does adding plants help reduce stress and lower pollutants in the air, a splash of greenery is a fantastic way to liven up a space. 2018 saw the botanical trend really take off, with interior designers using natural prints and greenery to bring the outside into homes. In this blog, we’re going to look at how you can add this trend to your bathroom. From the essential pieces of decor you need to what fittings and fixtures you can incorporate from Lusso Stone to make the most of your new tropical paradise.

The best plants for your bathroom

As expected, all great botanical themed bathrooms start with a selection of plants. Many plants thrive in the bathroom thanks to the humidity created in the space, if you’re looking to bring in real plants to your bathroom, here are our top picks

  • Aloe Vera
  • Begonia
  • Bamboo
  • Ivy
  • Orchid
  • Dracaena
  • Chinese Evergreen
  • Boston Fern

All of these plants are incredibly hardy in humid environments and work well in spaces where there is no direct sunlight. Make sure you check the specific care instruction for your plants before you add them to your space, some may require regular watering whereas others, like Aloe Vera, will survive on the humidity alone.

Bathroom fittings for a tropical paradise

A botanical bathroom theme works best when the rest of the scheme is minimal, which is why we love seeing our customers pair our white stone baths and stone basins with flashes of tropical shades. The bright white makes the accompanying colours really pop and creates that serene, relaxing environment that everyone loves in their bathroom. Alongside the white bath and basin, we recommend adding a large mirror to further open up the space and choosing brushed gold fixtures that will work wonderfully with the shades of green.

Botanical Bathroom Decor

The best part of creating a new bathroom scheme is adding all of those fun finishing touches. To complement the white of the bathroom fittings and the lush greenery of the plants, we recommend sticking to gold ornaments, soap dishes and other bathroom accessories. You can then start getting creative with tropical patterns for your towels and wall art. Go for patterns with flecks of yellow, fuschia and different shades of green to really make the most of your new tropical haven. We love bold prints in a botanical bathroom so look for anything that combines tropical shades with pineapples, flamingos, parrots and jungle prints.
